What type of Chilean visa do I need?
This depends on 3 points:
- The nationality according to your passport – If the citizenship according to the passport is from a nation that is on visa free travel to Chile or eligible to secure a visa on arrival in Chile, then you may not need to obtain a Chilean visa prior to departure from your home country. General Visa Application Requirements to Apply for Chilean Traveller Visa
- Traveler visa Form for Chile – Completed Chilean visa application form.
- Original and signed passport – The passport needs to be valid for at least six months before going into Chile and three months after leaving Chile. It must contain a minimum of 2 spare visa pages and can not be older than 10 years.
- Passport type photo – Photo has to be no older than six months and ought to be 35 x 40mm in size.
- Previous passport – Supply a previous passport if you had any.
- Previous visas – Copies of previous Chilean visas details if you had any.
- Flight tickets to Chile – Reservation of return or round trip flight tickets. In some instances the Chilean visa office may ask for pre paid air travel tickets to Chile.
- Travel insurance coverage – Proof of travel insurance coverage with a minimum cover set by the Chilean embassy provided with the Certification of Insurance policy and the table of benefits. - Original financial institution statements – Original bank statements for the last 3 months showing sufficient funds to cover your trip in Chile. If statements are printed online after that it needs to be Verified (stamped) by the financial institution officials.
- Hotel Reservations in Chile – Copy of confirmed hotel bookings including name of the applicant, name and address of the hotel, length of stay. In the majority of scenarios, only bookings which are partly or completely pre-paid can be accepted.
- Employment letter – This letter should be: original and signed letter from employer written on company letter head paper, verifying your ongoing employment, the status of employment, monthly salary and annual leave. Likewise, please supply your three latest pay slips. If you are self-employed: offer certified copies of business registration, tax return.
- For students. Please offer the following:
- Proof of current student status: Certificate of Enrollment.
- Original and signed letter from university written on university letter head paper, affirming on-going enrolment, confirming the payment of tuition fees or any kind of scholarships, and confirming term break.
- Insurance coverage from Organisation/University– Supply a letter from the University stating the purpose, duration of travel and confirmation that you will be covered by the insurance for the entire trip in addition to the Certificate of Currency and summary of benefits.
In general, visa applications for Chilean visa need to be sent for a maximum of 6 months, and no behind 15 days, prior to the journey.
