Who can make an application for a Peruvian visa?

Any person hoping to go on vacation to Peru can apply for a Peruvian visa.

There are many types of visa for Peru which you can use as a visitor to Peru. What kind of Peruvian visa do I require?

This relies on three things:

  1. The nationality according to your passport – If the nationality according to the passport is from a nation that is on visa free travel to Peru or eligible to obtain a visa on arrival in Peru, then you may not need to get a Peruvian visa prior to leaving from your home country.   2. The duration of your visit in Peru – If you want to remain in Peru for a shorter period less than 90 days, then you can make an application for the Peruvian visa. If you want to stay longer, then contact the closest Peruvian visa office to find the appropriate visa for your trip.
  3. The activities you want to accomplish in Peru – If your sole purpose of travelling is for holiday, then you can apply for all kinds of Peruvian visas talked about on this page.

General Visa Application Requirements to Apply for Peruvian Visitor Visa

  1. Tourist visa Form for Peru – Completed Peruvian visa Form.
  2. Original and signed passport – The passport needs to be valid for at least six months prior to entering Peru and three months after leaving Peru. It must have at least 2 spare visa pages and can not be older than 10 years.
  3. Passport type photo – Photo must be no older than 6 months and need to be 35 x 40mm in width.
  4. Previous passport – Supply a previous passport if you had any.
  5. Previous visas – Copies of previous Peruvian visas details if you had any.
  6. Flight tickets to Peru – Reservation of return or round trip flight tickets. In some circumstances the Peruvian visa office might ask for pre paid air travel tickets to Peru.
  7. Travel insurance policy – Proof of travel insurance coverage with a minimum cover set by the Peruvian embassy provided with the Certificate of Insurance and the table of benefits. The travel insurance coverage need to cover the expense of repatriation for medical reasons and the Certificate of Currency have to be issued by an insurance company.   8. Original bank declarations – Original bank statements for the last 3 months showing adequate funds to cover stay in Peru. If statements are printed online after that it needs to be Confirmed (stamped) by the bank officials.
  9. Hotel Reservations in Peru – Copy of confirmed hotel bookings including name of the applicant, name and address of the hotel, duration of stay. In the majority of situations, only bookings which are partly or completely pre-paid can be accepted.
  10. Employment letter – This letter must be: original and signed letter from employer written on company letter head paper, confirming your ongoing employment, the status of employment, regular monthly salary and annual leave. Additionally, please give your three most recent pay slips. If you are self-employed: supply certified copies of business registration, tax return.
  11. For students. Please provide the following:
  • Evidence of present student status: Certificate of Enrollment.
  • Original and signed letter from university written on university letter head paper, confirming on-going enrolment, confirming the payment of tuition fees or any scholarships, and confirming semester break.
  • Insurance policy from Organisation/University– Offer a letter from the University stating the purpose, period of travel and confirmation that you are going to be covered by the insurance coverage for the whole journey along with the Certificate of Currency and summary of benefits.

In general, visa applications for Peruvian visa need to be sent for a maximum of 6 months, and no later than 15 days, prior to the journey.
