What type of Nepalese visa do I need?

General Visa Application Requirements to Obtain Nepalese Visitor Visa

  1. Tourist visa application for Nepal – Completed Nepalese visa application form.
  2. Original and signed passport – The passport must be valid for at the very least six months prior to entering Nepal and 3 months after departing Nepal. It must contain at least two spare visa pages and can not be older than ten years.
  3. Passport type photo – Photo should be no older than six months and should be 35 x 40mm in size.
  4. Previous passport – Provide a previous passport if you had any.
  5. Previous visas – Copies of previous Nepalese visas details if you had any.
  6. Flight tickets to Nepal – Reservation of return or round trip flight tickets. In some scenarios the Nepalese visa office may request pre paid air travel tickets to Nepal.
  7. Travel insurance policy – Evidence of travel insurance policy with a minimum cover set by the Nepalese embassy provided with the Certification of Insurance coverage and the table of benefits. The travel insurance coverage should cover the cost of repatriation for medical reasons and the Certificate of Currency need to be issued by an insurance company.   8. Original financial institution declarations – Original financial institution statements for the last 3 months showing sufficient funds to cover your visit in Nepal. If statements are printed online after that it has to be Confirmed (stamped) by the financial institution representatives.
  9. Hotel Reservations in Nepal – Copy of confirmed hotel bookings including name of the applicant, name and address of the hotel, duration of stay. In most conditions, only bookings which are partly or completely pre-paid can be accepted.
  10. Employment letter – This letter needs to be: original and signed letter from employer written on company letter head paper, validating your ongoing employment, the status of employment, monthly income and annual leave. Additionally, please offer your three most recent pay slips. If you are self-employed: supply certified copies of company registration, income tax return.
  11. For students. Please supply the following:
  • Proof of current student status: Certificate of Enrollment.
  • Original and signed letter from university written on university letter head paper, affirming on-going enrolment, confirming the payment of tuition fees or any type of scholarships, and confirming term break.
  • Insurance policy from Organisation/University – Offer a letter from the University specifying the purpose, period of travel and confirmation that you will be covered by the insurance for the entire journey in addition to the Certificate of Currency and summary of benefits.

In general, visa applications for Nepalese visa need to be sent for a maximum of 6 months, and no later than 15 days, prior to the journey.
